Our paediatric assessments are tailored to each child’s age and developmental stage, and always delivered by experienced audiologists in a kid-friendly setting.
We use Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA), which engages your child through soft lights or animation, to measure how they respond to sound in a comfortable and supportive way.
Conditioned Play Audiometry (CPA) helps your child complete hearing checks using games and interactive tasks, making the process fun and effective.
Full Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) and speech-in-noise testing are used to assess hearing clarity, understanding and performance in everyday listening situations.
Hearing plays a foundational role in how children learn, connect and thrive. Even mild hearing differences can impact speech development, attention, classroom participation and social interaction.
We recommend a paediatric hearing assessment if you’ve observed:
Reduced response to soft sounds or voices
Child specifically asking for repetition
Difficulty hearing siblings or in noisy environments
Speech or language development delays
Earaches, recurring infections or concerns raised by a teacher or caregiver
Identifying and addressing hearing changes early helps to protect your child’s confidence, communication and long-term outcomes.
We can begin assessments from around 6 months of age using specialised VRA methods.
Our paediatric services are offered at our Glasgow City Centre clinic and the Milngavie audiology facility, both equipped with child-friendly testing suites and experienced paediatric clinicians.
Expect around 45-60 minutes, with some variation depending on age and cooperation.
